オランダのロイヤル・アッシャー社の5代目社長であり現会長のエドワード・アッシャーさん。
2020年に息子のマイクさんと娘のリタさんに社長の座を引き継ぎました。
 
 
そして今回が、彼にとっては125回目以上であり最後の日本出張となりました。

約２カ月前、
エドワードさんから一通のメールが届きました。
 
 
そこには日本に到着した翌日、タカラ堂へ行っても良いかと書かれていました。
 
 
わずか２日後には東京で新作発表会やフェアウェルパーティーが予定されており、そちらでお会いすることは分かっていましたが、なぜその前に？？

理由を尋ねると、彼はこう答えました。
 

 
「タカラ堂とは、日本でロイヤル・アッシャーの取り扱いが始まった約60年前からの関係だ。家族同士の深い付き合いもある。何より、ブランドを定着させ、さらに拡大していく中でリーダーとして常に誠実に力を尽くしてくれた。私は本当に感謝しているし、心から尊敬している。最も大切なパートナーとして、ぜひ最初に訪れたいたんだ！」
 
 
彼の言葉には、長年築かれてきた絆への深い感謝と敬意が込められていました。

エドワードさんはこれまでも日本を訪れるたび、さまざまな小売店に足を運んでいました。それは、自分たちのブランドがどれほど大切にされているかを直接感じ取るため。今でもそのポリシー・信念は変わることがありません。
 
 
結果、彼は一人で新幹線に乗り、静岡のタカラ堂へと足を運んでくれたのです。

地方の小さな宝石店に対して、ブランドのトップ自ら「尊敬している」との言葉を直接いただける――
その瞬間、胸が熱くなり、私たちは改めて奮い立つ思いがしました。
 
60年前と変わらず、これからもロイヤル・アッシャーを大切に、その素晴らしさや魅力をたくさんの人たちに伝えていこう！と。

エドワードさんが訪問した際、私たちは一枚の特別な写真を撮影しました。
 

 
それは1976年4月8日、若きエドワードさんがタカラ堂に初訪問された際に、当社2代目社長・新貝久雄と一緒に撮った写真の再現でした。
 
 

 
約50年の時を経て、世代を超えて再び同じように写真を撮ることができたことは、何ものにも代えがたい幸せでした。

タカラ堂とロイヤル・アッシャーの関係は、50年以上もの歴史があります。時を超え、世代を超えて、いまだに最高のパートナーシップを築き続けられていることを誇りに思います。

Edward Asscher’s Last Visit To Japan.
 
Edward Asscher, the fifth-generation president and current chairman of the ROYAL ASSCHER DIAMOND Company in the Netherlands, has passed the mantle of leadership to his son, Mike, and daughter, Lita. This visit to Japan marked his final business trip.
 
About two months ago, we received an email from Edward.
 
In it, he expressed his wish to visit TAKARADO the day after his arrival in Japan. Two days later, a new product launch and farewell party was scheduled in Tokyo, and we knew we would meet him there. We wondered why he wanted to come to TAKARADO first. When asked, he explained:
 
“TAKARADO has had a relationship with Royal Asscher for nearly 60 years, ever since our brand was first introduced to Japan. There are also deep family relationships. Above all, TAKARADO has always worked sincerely and tirelessly as a leader as we established the brand and expanded it further. I am deeply grateful and have the utmost respect for TAKARADO. As my most important partner, it is only fitting that I visit them first!”
 
His words carried profound gratitude and respect for the enduring partnership that had been built over decades.
 
Edward always visited different retail stores during his business trips to Japan, wanting to see first-hand how much his brand was cared for. His policies and beliefs will never change. In the end, he took the Shinkansen alone and came to TAKARADO in Shizuoka.
 
To have the head of a global brand personally say, “I respect you!” to a small, local jewelry store was a deeply moving moment. It reignited our determination to work harder and to continue cherishing what we have built.
 
During his visit, we recreated a special photograph. It was a reenactment of a photo taken on April 8, 1976, when a young Edward stood with our second-generation president, Hisao Shinkai. Nearly 50 years later, we replicating the scene again in Shizuoka. It was a moment of irreplaceable joy.
 
The partnership between TAKARADO and ROYAL ASSCHER spans over 50 years. We take immense pride in continuing to foster this relationship across time and generations. Edward’s genuine care for retailers and his heartfelt acknowledgment, saying “respect” left a deep impression on us.
 
We, too, aspire to be as warm and considerate as Edward. His final visit brought us invaluable hope and a renewed commitment to the future.
